Standard & Poors Raises Irondale’s Long Term Credit Rating

Irondale, Al – The City of Irondale received it’s highest credit rating ever during it’s 2014 credit appraisal by Standard and Poor’s.  Irondale was upgraded  ‘AA’ from ‘A+’  in it’s latest credit rating. Credit ratings are opinions about credit risk published by a rating agency. They express opinions about the ability and willingness of an issuer, such as a corporation, state or city government, to meet its financial obligations in accordance with the terms of those obligations.

According to Irondale’s mayor, Tommy Joe Alexander, ” The AA credit rating is a tribute to how sound we manage the city’s finances.”  Credit ratings are also opinions about the credit quality of an issue, such as a bond or other debt obligation, and the relative likelihood that it may default.
