Susan L. Clark was born in Birmingham, Alabama and was reared in the East Birmingham area. She graduated from Huffman High School and was the speaker for her high school graduation. She graduated from The University of Alabama with a BA in Social Work. The Centers for Disease Control, (CDC) was the perfect opportunity for Susan to begin on her career path. She learned many factors about infectious disease had opportunities to travel to different countries to explore other cultures. Some of the countries she visited were Athens, Greece, Madrid Spain, Great Yarmoth England and Amsterdam, Netherlands during her 10 years. She has two publications in two health journals updates herself on CDC MMWR. She evolved in the world long term nursing care helping people has always been part of her skill set. She always enjoyed being a Social Service Coordinator for of our local long-term nursing and rehab establishments. These positions enable Susan to find her inner inclination as the director of the Irondale Senior Activity. It has become her favorite place. She has a goddaughter Danielle Files (Birmingham, AL), godson Ehrie Foster and niece Lauren Gilbert and nephew Sean Gilbert all of Dallas TX.
The Irondale Senior Activity Center’s (ISAC) mission is the successful aging for all citizens – mentally, physically, socially and spiritually.
Hours of Operation:
Monday – Thursday from 7:30 am – 3:00 pm
Membership
- Available to Irondale residents and non-residents age 55 and older
- A valid photo ID and proof of residency is required (current utility bill accepted)
- Annual membership fee is $25 per person for residents and $50 for non-residents. This membership provides access to the Senior Center, Monthly Birthday Celebrations, Free Beginner Ceramic Classes, and lots of other fun activities.
- Some additional fees may apply for special activities and trips.

The Irondale Senior Activity Center is truly a place “Where friends meet, greet and socialize in a warm and caring atmosphere.” Our modern facility and amenities offer a great place many Irondale citizens to meet.
We offer numerous programs to the seniors in the Irondale community and surrounding areas. At the Senior Activity Center community members at least 55 years young can do everything from create Art to take a Trip.
