August 24, 2016 – Irondale citizens elected a new Mayor for the first time in nearly twelve years.  Charles Moore was elected Mayor of Irondale over opponents; Craig Sanderson and Susan Meadows.  Moore garnered a whopping 68% of the popular vote.

In the Irondale City Council races citizens elected two political newcomers; David Spivey and Steve Marino.  David Spivey defeated former Irondale City Councilor, Bob Saunders to win District 2.  Steve Marino defeated former Irondale City Councilor, Chris Crews to win District 3. Incumbent Bobby Joe Wilson defeated Aaron Sims to retain his seat as Irondale City Councilor for District 5.

Incumbent Irondale City Councilors; John London – District 1 and Terry Bearden – District 4 were both unopposed and will be returning to the Irondale City Council.
