Irondale, AL – The City of Irondale and the Regional Planning Commission of Greater Birmingham recently held the official project kickoff meeting to start work on the city’s comprehensive plan.  This marks a critical first step toward shaping the future of the City of Irondale for the next 10-15 years.  According to city clerk, James Stewart Jr.,” This plan will force the city to take a hard look at every aspect of how we operate.  It will also help us identify the necessary changes that will make us more competitive in the future.”

A diverse project management team has been formed to start the hard work of creating a solid project management plan.  It is important to recognize that the Project Management Plan is a framework for administering the project. This Project Management Work Plan (PMP) presents organizational, policy, procedural and process documentation that establishes how the Comprehensive Plan Update for City of Irondale will be planned, managed, and completed.

Crucial to the success of the comprehensive plan is community involvement.  Several town hall meetings will be scheduled in the next few months to solicit community input, share project progress and educate the community on the benefits of the plan.  A website will be developed to keep all citizens and stakeholders abreast of project status and milestones. The project management team will also launch a community based survey to allow citizens to come up with a name for the comprehensive plan.
