The Irondale City Council made history Tuesday night by unanimously adopting the city’s first ever community-based comprehensive plan branded, Irondale On the Move.
The Irondale on the Move Comprehensive Plan is meant to be a living document and “road map” that articulates the city’s vision and desire for growth and redevelopment for the next 25 years. According to project manager Lindsey Puckett of the Greater Birmingham Regional Planning Commission, ” Unprecedented collaboration among a diverse group of Irondale community stakeholders will be essential to successfully implementing this plan. Community stakeholders include anyone with a vested interest in assisting in Irondale’s future growth, including Irondale’s: citizens, businesses, visitors, city/local employees, municipal boards/agencies, schools, civic groups, elected officials and non-profit organizations.”

This Plan is a powerful tool to stimulate growth, shape development, and measure the City’s progress toward meeting the Vision – “The City of Irondale desires to become a vibrant, progressive, healthy and attractive place to live, work and play. It is a place where family and diversity are highly valued, and where safe, walkable and clean neighborhoods are connected to each other and united to thriving schools, revitalized commercial areas, enhanced parks, protected natural open spaces and waterways, and cultural activities. The City of Irondale is hopeful to become the gateway to central Alabama – it is big enough to meet your needs, and small enough to care.”
Thank you to all who participated in this Comprehensive Plan process – Irondale is on the Move!
