Irondale Christmas Parade Highlights

Despite the crisp bite in the air, the gorgeous sunlight warmed the spirit of participants and spectators of the Irondale Christmas Parade! (See photos here.)

At the end of the parade, in front of City Hall, the audience was treated to music by the Shades Valley Mountie Marching Band and sang happy birthday to former Mayor Tommy Joe Alexander. The crowd was introduced to the parade’s Grand Marshal, Frank Pennington – Irondale’s very first “Employee of the Year” – who helped Mayor Charles Moore light the tree.  This year’s parade winners were:

1st place: Zamora Shriners ($150)
2nd place: Jefferson Christian Academy ($100)
Most Christmas Spirit: SVHS band ($50)

Special thank yous to Waldrep Stewart & Kendrick, who donated the above awards, and to Irondale’s FIAT of Birmingham, who provided three beautiful convertibles for the parade.

The crowd of spectators is growing for the Irondale Christmas Parade. Don’t miss next year!
