
The Irondale Commercial Development Authority (CDA) recently hosted a special luncheon and award ceremony to honor long time Irondale business, Morris-Shea Bridge Company. During the special ceremony, Morris-Shea Bridge Company- CEO, Richard Shea was presented with the Irondale CDA Business of the Month award for June 2016. Each month the Irondale CDA recognizes an Irondale business that exemplifies excellence in their industry and leadership in the Irondale community.

Little known to many in the Irondale community, Richard Shea and his sons own and manage a state of the art softball facility located in Irondale. The two softball fields are equipped with 100% FieldTurf surfaces and 200-foot fences. The Shea Softball Complex is home to one of the nation’s premier travel girls softball organizations, the Birmingham Thunderbolts. This past May, the Shea Softball Complex was the host site of the 2016 South Western Athletic Conference (SWAC) Girls Softball Championship Tournament and the championship game aired internationally on ESPN.
