City Councilors in District 1&5 Host Comprehensive Plan Workshop

May 27, 2015 – On Tuesday night, Irondale City Councilors, John London (District 1) and Bobby Joe Wilson (District 5) co-hosted a community workshop to discuss Irondale On The Move, the City of Irondale’s new comprehensive plan.   A number of citizens, businesses and community stakeholders were in attendance at the workshop where attendees were encouraged to share their vision for the future of Irondale.

The workshop was held at St. James United Methodist Church and was conducted by the Irondale On the Move Project Team.  Attendees were given the opportunity share their thoughts on the current state of their districts via interactive workstations and candid discussions with their city councilors. A broad range of topics were discussed including; neighborhoods/housing, parks and recreation, infrastructure improvement, retail/entertainment and city services.

” This is the first of several events we will hold to encourage wide community participation in the comprehensive planning process.” according to James Stewart a member of the Irondale On the Move Project Team. Other upcoming events include;  City-wide Town Hall meetings, special interest focus groups (churches, education, technology, land use & local organizations), community fun days and interviews with local business leaders.
