Grand Opening Scheduled for New Beacon Park

Irondale, Al Beacon Park has long been considered the  premiere family park in the City of Irondale.  On any given day the park is a bevy of activity from joggers using the walking track, kids playing on the playground and the pavilions being used for birthday parties and family reunions. Due to a lack of funding and resource limitations, Beacon Park and other Irondale parks has suffered some blight in recent years.

In 2014, the Irondale Park Committee led by Chairman, John London announced an initiative to upgrade and renovate all of Irondale’s public parks.  The plan called for modernizing all parks and ensuring all equipment were ADA compliant.  The plan also called for establishing more green spaces throughout the city.  Beacon Park was identified as a first priority due to the number of visitors that visit the park annually.

For the past few months the park has undergone a massive renovation which includes; new playground equipment, both pavilions have been modernized, more handicap parking has been added and the former tennis court has been converted to a beautiful open greenspace.

The Greater Irondale community is invited join us for The Beacon Park Grand Opening which will be held THIS Saturday, June 27.  The City of Irondale and the Greater Irondale Chamber of Commerce will sponsor FREE hotdogs and FUN between 11:30 AM and 3:00 PM.   A special Ribbon Cutting Ceremony will start at 12:30 PM.  Don’t miss it!
