Long time Shades Valley High School principal, Mary Beth Blankenship has accepted a transfer to Gardendale High School . Ms Blankenship has been the top administrator for Shades Valley High School, Jefferson County Inter-Baccalaureate and the Shades Valley Technical Academy for the past five years.  Under her leadership, all schools have received numerous academic, athletic and community awards.

Ms Blankenship has also been instrumental in building powerful partnerships with local businesses, municipal agencies and the City of Irondale.  Her energy, leadership and love for Irondale will be missed.

Dr. Antjuan Marsh, assistant principal at McAdory High School has been named principal of Shades Valley High School.
