Over 400 students and parents attended the Shades Valley High School College and Career night on September 3, 2015. This event provided students and their parents with an opportunity to directly interact with over 30 colleges and universities, all branches of the military and several technical schools.
Both Shades Valley High School and JCIB have a one of Alabama’s highest percentages of students that graduate high school and go on to pursue college degrees.
” We want to give our students various options to consider after they graduate high school. College and Career Night offers a unique opportunity to have direct dialogue with representatives from top colleges, our armed forces and technical schools, ” according to Principal, Mary Beth Blankenship.
Future plans are to hold a Career and Technical night to specifically highlight career opportunities and technical training for recent high school graduates.
