The City of Irondale, the Greater Irondale Chamber of Commerce and the Irondale Commercial Development Authority have engaged the services of the Regional Planning Commission of Greater Birmingham (RPCGB) and See It Productions to develop a City of Irondale Comprehensive Plan. The work effort for this project will create the first comprehensive planning document in the city’s history, which will include a future land development concept along with recommendations for development and redevelopment of specific activity centers and corridors and capital improvement strategies for prioritizing public infrastructure needs. When completed, these plan documents will provide continuing guidance for:
- Commercial/retail growth
- Residential development
- Industrial development
- Employment / economic development
- Quality of life – schools, parks and other public services
The public is invited to give their input at the first Open House and visioning session, which will be held on Thursday, April 16th, 2015 between 6:30 and 7:30pm at the Shades Valley High School Auditorium (located at 6100 Old Leeds Road, Irondale AL 35210).
The Open House is an opportunity for city residents and businesses, as well as individuals who work in and travel through the city, to share their vision and opinions, and to ask questions about the City of Irondale’s comprehensive plan development process.
