The October Greater Irondale Chamber of Commerce luncheon will be held on Thursday, October 13, 2016 from 11;30AM to 1PM at Pine Tree Country Club.
The Irondale Chamber of Commerce welcomes Amanda Hay, a 911 dispatcher in Irondale, to discuss the 911 system, first responders, and the importance of making communication a time saver when life depends on every second.
Amanda earned her Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Montevallo. Before becoming a public servant, Amanda says, she assumed being a 911 operator meant years of training and licensing, or even a special college degree. In actuality, 911 operators come from incredibly varied backgrounds.
It is her own misconceptions about the 911 operator’s job that give her the desire to build a bridge of understanding between the general public and first responders and to educate the public about the 911 system, how first responders function, and how very important easy communication is when a life depends on every minute.
At the October luncheon, Amanda will discuss safety precautions for the home, your business, and the community.
