On March 22nd, numerous Irondale community stakeholders attended the third Irondale On The MOVE – Community Forum, to discuss the future of Irondale’s Parks/Green Spaces/Blue-ways and Outdoor Recreation programs. A panel of experts/community leaders presented valuable information and shared ideas with the audience on strategies to enhance public use of Irondale’s beautiful open spaces and blue-ways.
Participants on the community forum panel included:
- John London – Irondale City Council President/Parks Committee, Chairman
- Beth Stewart – Executive Director of The Cahaba River Society
- LeAnn Macknally – CEO of MAcknally Land Design
- Carlee Sanford – Executive Director of Ruffner Mountain Nature Preserve
- Scott Green – Founder of the East Jefferson Cycling Coalition
Vice President of the Irondale Commercial Development Authority , Terrence Scott served as moderator for the event. According to Mr. Scott, “A key component of Irondale’s award wining comprehensive plan is the unprecedented involvement by Irondale’s key community stakeholders. Community forums are a way to gather ideas and raise public awareness about key elements of the Irondale On The MOVE, Comprehensive Plan in an informal environment.”

Throughout 2017, the Irondale On The MOVE, Community Action Team will hold quarterly community forums to discuss various components of the comprehensive plan. The next community forum will take place during the second quarter of 2017 (TBA) and will focus on economic development strategies in Irondale.
